Pirates Voyage Dinner Show at Myrtle Beach, SC

Pirates Voyage Dinner Show at Myrtle Beach, SC

When we were making our plans to leave Florida to go who-knows-where, one question came to mind. What is it we want to experience? I said I wanted to go to a dinner show. Looking back, that was pretty silly, but I was still very much in my postpartum time. If you’ve ever been a new and nursing mama, you know I didn’t want to have to walk too much, and I was huuuungry. We decided to head towards Myrtle Beach so that way we could experience the Pirate’s Voyage Dinner Show. So read on to get our tips to making sure you have a great time, and find out if it’s Fun Adventure Family Approved.

Tip 1- Call to make your reservation.

We initially called to ask about some food allergy issues. Can I just say they were very accommodating? They gave us special tickets to designate that we had an allergy and to help keep our waitress informed and able to keep us safe. The person that Dorky Adventure Dad was talking with asked us if we’d like to pick our seats. Ummm… Yes, please! I’m not sure if that’s standard when you call in to buy your tickets, but you don’t get to pick your seats when you buy tickets to the Pirate’s Voyage Dinner Show online. The only thing you can pick online is what section you’d like to be seated in. So give it a try! You might end up with much better seats!

Tip 2- DO NOT miss the pre-show!

I could not believe how much effort went into making the pre-show at the Pirate’s Voyage Dinner Show awesome. It was interactive, loud, and FUN! Please do not miss this! My heart actually hurt for all the people who came in just in time for the main show. There was singing, jokes, juggling, and a balancing act. We laughed. We cheered. The whole Fun Adventure Family was enthralled! Even our tiniest member couldn’t nap through the fun. During the pre-show time you can order drinks in souvenir skull cups, or get your face painted. There is also plenty of time to buy a fun surprise for the kiddos in the gift shop. Which brings me to my next tip.

Tip 3- Bring some extra dabloons for the gift shop.

The kiddos were excited as can be about joining the ranks of the pirate crew, but even though Silly Adventure Sam had his hook and pirate cap, he still felt lacking. A quick trip to the gift shop equipped him with an eye patch, an earring, and other pirate-y trinkets to really get in the mood. Mom and Dad appreciated the very reasonable cost as well! Our Pirate Princess picked out an adorable pirate dolly. After a little while she decided she wanted what her big brother had. Of course! Thankfully making an exchange was easy breezy!

Tip 4- Stuff your face and enjoy the Pirate’s Voyage Dinner Show!

As I said earlier, we needed some special accommodations for an allergy. Our server was very informed and helped to ease my concerns and always brought my food separately. She gave my portion of things I couldn’t have to my kiddos, which is awesome because you know how much kids can eat. We stuffed our faces with soup, bread, puled pork, baked chicken, corn, potatoes, and an apple turnover. I could not have to soup so I had a fruit cup. I had special potatoes made without the seasoning, and my apple turnover was given to the kids. I know the waitress wished that the options could have been more diverse instead of “sorry, you get nothing”, but I was grateful to have her so well informed. Allergy parents know what I mean! We also really appreciated having silverware (I’m looking at you Medieval Times).

I don’t want to give too much away, so I’ll just sat that the show had singing, dancing, and acrobatics. There was a ton of splashing into the water. The actors did so many costume changes it was hard to see how and when they did! There was a variety of animals in the show. There was even audience participation and relays! We were surprised and impressed throughout the whole event. This is one dinner show you DO NOT want to miss!

Tip 5- The show animals can be found on the right side of the building.

The show animals can be found on the right side of the building! Unfortunately, we didn’t have time to stop and visit with the animals. We only noticed they were out there as we were driving away. If I would have known that they were there beforehand, we would have gotten there even earlier so we could interact with them and take lots of pictures!

Tip 6- Don’t do this dinner show before Medieval Times.

Long story short, we went to the Pirate’s Dinner Show the weekend before we went to the other, and let’s just say after such an amazing experience at the Pirate’s Voyage Dinner Show, the other show was a huge letdown. I talk all about our experience there on this blog post. here

*Warning! There is a scary aspect to the Pirate’s Voyage Dinner Show.

There was one scene where “Davy Jones” makes an appearance and the cast are dressed as skeletons. It’s certainly not scary to big kids, but if your littles are sensitive to skeletons and the like, you may want to have a talk with them about that first or consider waiting until they are a little older. With that being said, I was more worried about our sensitive 7-year-old, than I was about our rough and tumble 2-year-old. She handled it well and seemed to enjoy it very much.

Pirate’s Voyage, Myrtle Beach is 100% Fun Adventure Family Approved! Action, comedy, animals, romance, adventure, and food! It has it all! We can’t wait to go back!
